Congratulations to Kathy Klage from Monroe Middle School on your retirement! Thank you for 33 years of dedicated service. #YourCommunitySchools
Kathy has taught in the same school district where she graduated. She attended Madison, Monroe, and Wheaton Central. As a math teacher, she has worked with many students who struggled to understand various math concepts. The greatest reward came recently in a letter from a former 7th-grade student that she worked with every day after school because the math did not come easy to him. He wanted to thank her and tell her that he is currently a junior in college and studying to be an Aerospace Engineer. Kathy’s greatest accomplishment has been her ability to connect with students and parents and keep in touch with them after they leave her classroom. A new home with water access in Ottawa, Illinois awaits Kathy and her husband upon her retirement. She plans to spend a lot of time boating, entertaining family and friends, and traveling.

The best moments were hearing students say, “That was fun,” knowing they had been held to a high standard, and they had realized the gratification of working hard to accomplish a difficult task. Jon is looking forward to continuing to use his skills in different ways while having some more flexibility to travel and spend time with family.

Congratulations to Christine Fritsch from Edison Middle School on your retirement! Thank you for 27 years of dedicated service! #YourCommunitySchools
Christine’s first principal at Wiesbrook, Mary Curley, the 8th-grade social studies and project business classes at Franklin, and the 8th-grade, student-led community service projects for multiple years at Edison definitely contributed to many of her favorite memories with students and staff. Her greatest accomplishment is the support and guidance she has shared with generations of students that have grown into kind, responsible citizens, spouses, and parents! Christine is hoping to enjoy the food, people, and culture in other countries when she is not spending time closer to home with family and friends. She is looking forward to volunteering at local non-profit groups, reading for the fun of it, and not waking up at 5:30 a.m. Monday through Friday!

Spending time with the grandchildren and traveling are on Jan’s retirement bucket list.
