Community Unit School District 200 is committed to fostering strong partnerships between our schools and the community. One of the key ways we engage with families and residents is through the Citizens’ Advisory Committee (CAC), which is a group of 21-37 dedicated community members who provide valuable input on educational and district-related initiatives.
The CAC’s mission is to help improve education for students of all ages by advising the administration and Board of Education on important topics affecting the district. Members work together to:
Study and deliberate regarding problems, issues and questions of public education that impact the District, and to report the results of its activities to the Board of Education and district administration.
Advise the Board of Education and administration regarding policies of the district.
Facilitate cooperation and communication in educational affairs between the schools/school district and the community.
A few examples of topics discussed at CAC meetings include but are not limited to:
School safety practices in CUSD 200
Use of technology in school and the District’s cell phone policy
Curriculum initiatives and overviews
Social and emotional learning for students
The CAC is now accepting applications for the 2025-26 school year. Candidates must reside within CUSD 200 boundaries and shall not miss more than two meetings without first notifying an officer of the CAC or the superintendent’s office. Members serve one-year terms (up to five consecutive years) and meet regularly (usually monthly) throughout the school year.
If you’re interested in becoming a CAC member, we invite you to submit an application. No prior experience is needed—just a commitment to helping improve our schools and supporting the success of our students.
Applications are due by March 28, 2025, and can be filled out and submitted online by clicking here or visiting the CUSD 200 website.
