A special Thanksgiving message from Superintendent Dr. Jeff Schuler: As we approach Thanksgiving, I want to take a moment to share a heartwarming experience I had last week that truly embodies the spirit of gratitude. I had the privilege of visiting Mr. Ellison’s third-grade class at Lincoln Elementary School for a special Thanksgiving-themed activity. The students were asked to write down things they were thankful for on a “coffee cup” cutout and then bring their creativity to life by coloring it in. What made this activity so meaningful wasn’t just the colorful coffee cups—it was the thoughtful and heartfelt reflections shared by the students. After completing their designs, many eagerly stood up to share their lists with the class. Their expressions of gratitude included things we can all relate to—family, a warm home, food, pets, faith, and school—as well as some unique and personal touches, like dirt bikes, Taylor Swift, video games, upcoming birthdays, and favorite hobbies. As I walked around the classroom, listening to their thoughtful and enthusiastic answers, I was reminded of the beauty in pausing to appreciate what fills our cups with gratitude. It’s easy to get caught up in the busyness of daily life, especially during the holiday season, but moments like these encourage us to slow down and reflect on what truly matters. So, as you pour yourself a cup of coffee during the Thanksgiving break, I encourage you to think about what fills your cup with gratitude. In our fast-paced lives, it’s important to take a step back and appreciate the many blessings that make our lives full. On behalf of the entire CUSD 200 family, I wish you a joyful Thanksgiving filled with gratitude, laughter, and cherished moments. May you take this opportunity to relax, recharge, and enjoy meaningful time with your loved ones.

A Message From Superintendent Dr. Jeff Schuler: Last night, voters in our community approved a $151.5 million bond referendum that will allow us to improve safety and security in our middle schools, ensure healthy and accessible buildings for all students, and provide our middle schoolers with 21st century learning environments. According to preliminary results, voters approved the referendum by a 67.9% to 32.1% margin. We are still waiting for some provisional and mail-in ballots to be counted, but we don’t expect the outcome of the referendum to change. Your support is a testament to the values we share as a community that is invested in the future of our students. This journey began in 2013 with conversations about the long-term needs of our schools. Together, we have shaped a plan to address those needs thoughtfully, responsibly, and sustainably. We deeply appreciate the time, input, and trust you've extended to us along the way. Thank you for coming together as a community to prioritize the learning, safety, and well-being of our students and teachers. Read more by visiting: https://bit.ly/3UHDVIJ

Don't forget to vote today on CUSD 200's referendum! This community-driven plan to modernize our middle schools would provide safer and more secure buildings with learning spaces that support the rigorous curriculum our community expects and deserves. If passed, it would build pride and bring parity to our four middle school buildings, giving all students the same quality learning opportunities. It could also provide welcoming spaces for the community. All this can be accomplished with a reduction in our Bond and Interest Fund tax rate, for the third time in five years. Please remember to vote today! Polls close at 7 p.m. Learn more by visiting https://bit.ly/4dKR3F3. #YourCommunitySchools
