Franklin Middle School sixth graders recently enjoyed a social event with their peers thanks to the PTA, student council and many teacher and parent volunteers. This event was a great opportunity for students to make new friends and get connected to the school. #YourCommunitySchools

Cooper Gosain, a junior at Wheaton Warrenville South High School, alongside fellow Boy Scout Troop 303 scouts from WWS, Edison and Hubble middle schools completed the installation of a communications board for the Hawthorne Elementary School playground. This board will help students communicate their needs with their classmates and with their teachers while at recess.
Cooper was assisted in planning his Eagle Scout Project by Hawthorne Principal Holly Zimmer and Speech Therapist Amy Krischel. Thank you to all involved in helping all students feel welcome and included on the playground! #YourCommunitySchools

Madison Elementary School welcomed a new student club this year - Book Club! The Book Club welcomed almost 200 members at its first meeting last week. Thank you to Mrs. Bailey, Mrs. Cruz and many parent and grandparent volunteers for helping students get connected and engaged with their peers through this new club. #YourCommunitySchools

Today's TBT brings us back to 1952 at Wheaton Junior High School, originally located on the site of the old Longfellow School in the center of Wheaton. It existed at that location from 1935 until 1954, when it moved to a new building at Franklin and Cross Streets. The name of the school eventually changed to Franklin Junior High School. In 1982, Franklin Junior High School became Franklin Middle School. #YourCommunitySchools

The Wiesbrook Elementary School PTA sponsored a fun and educational assembly at Wiesbrook on September 19. Staley the Bear, the official mascot of the Chicago Bears, challenged students to have a healthy lifestyle. Based on the four downs of football, the kids learned the four points to adopting a healthy and active lifestyle:
1. Eat Healthy
2. Drink plenty of water
3. Get plenty of rest
4. Keep physically active.
He also showed off some pretty impressive dance moves and had a dance party with the kids! #YourCommunitySchools

A few weeks ago, Pleasant Hill Elementary School celebrated Safety & Spirit Week! Students learned about how to be safe on the playground and at lunch; the administration team and Winfield Police spoke to students about body safety and safe speech; and everyone practiced fire, lockdown and severe weather drills.
In addition, the school celebrated all the people that help to keep us safe by having a dress-up spirit week! Students dressed like teachers, doctors, police officers, firefighters and superheroes. They also learned that being safe at school is a team effort! #YourCommunitySchools

Exciting times for CUSD 200 high school students in the Intro to Teaching course! These future educators have just embarked on their student teaching internships, where they’ll be spending valuable time shadowing elementary and middle school teachers across the district. By the end of the semester, they'll have completed 30 internship hours and will have the opportunity to lead a lesson themselves.
We’re thrilled to spotlight one of our talented students, Storey from Wheaton Warrenville South High School, who had an amazing first day with Ms. Dvorak’s first grade class at Lincoln Elementary School. As you can see from the smiles in this photo, Miss Storey and her first graders are already forming a wonderful connection and are off to a fantastic start! #YourCommunitySchools
