Our Board continues to honor the commitment they made in 2017 to invest at least $7 million per year into capital facilities projects, including $10 million in capital work this past summer and just approved $7.7 more in the Summer 2024. Staff went to bid on these projects earlier this fall in an effort to secure favorable bids. Projects include:

  • Roofing replacement (two sections) and a special education bathroom remodel at Wheaton North High School

  • Fire panel and select fire device replacements at Wheaton Warrenville South High School

  • Paving/Concrete updates at Hawthorne, Johnson, and Sandburg Elementary Schools

  • HVAC, ceiling, and lighting replacement at Wiesbrook Elementary

  • Boiler replacements at Hubble Middle School and an HVC update in the Bower Elementary gym

  • Replacement of exterior doors at Edison Middle School and Pleasant Hill Elementary School

Staff are also working to secure bids for playground upgrades and equipment at Hawthorne, Pleasant Hill, and Sandburg Elementary Schools at an additional estimated cost of $750,000.
