Participation in a co-curricular opportunity is an important part of the high school experience and contributes to students being connected to their respective schools. Research indicates that student-connectedness has shown correlations to increased academic outcomes and decreased emotional distress. In District 200, our high school students have access to a wide array of clubs, activities, and athletic offerings for students including 28 athletic opportunities, 50 clubs, 10+ performing arts opportunities, and multiple honor societies. Recognizing the importance of co-curricular participation, the District began tracking this metric several years ago and included it on the District’s new dashboard. We are pleased to share that 72% of our high school students participate in a sport, club, or activity.
