September 26, 2008

• Segmental retaining walls and drain tile are complete with on the east property line.
• Segmental retaining wall and drain tile is complete on the north property line.
• Segmental retaining wall and drain tile is complete on the west property line.
• Haul off of excess clay is ongoing.
• Rough/ fine grading at the Galusha lot and north paring lot is nearing completion
• Concrete retaining wall is in place from the bridge to the west end of the cafeteria/ commons including the north/ south retaining wall on the west end of Module 3.
• Vapor barrier, rebar and mesh reinforcement is in place on the ground level of Module 3.2.
• Work continues on the main concrete retaining wall
• The concrete curb and gutter has been damaged in a number of locations. These sections of curb will require replacement. (maintained from previous report)
• The majority of the precast concrete wall panels are in place with the exception of a couple of panels which have been left out for project phasing.
• Module 2 footings for the back wall of the auditorium, front of stage and wing walls are in place.
• Module 1 and 2 masonry walls are ongoing. The ground face block on the east corridor wall is continuing.
• Module 2 masonry walls in the core of the building are continuing.
• Masonry work on the Module 3 classroom wing is ongoing. CMU walls on the south face of Module 3.2 is nearing completion up to the main floor slab.
• Steel and deck detailing/ installation for the east portion the Mod 3.2 Classrooms is ongoing
• Underground plumbing is in place throughout the building.
• Plumbing piping work is continuing in Module 3.1
• Underground conduit banks are being installed in Module 1 and at the Electrical Room (ongoing).
• Electrical work is ongoing in all areas of masonry wall construction.
• Electrical main routing in ongoing in the classroom wing corridors.

September 17, 2008

• Segmental retaining walls and drain tile are complete with the exception of the cap stone on the east property line.
• Segmental retaining wall and drain tile is nearing completion on the north property line. Segmental retaining wall and drain tile is nearing completion on the west property line.
• Concrete retaining wall is in place from the bridge to the west end of the cafeteria/ commons.
• Formwork for the north/ south retaining wall is in progress.
• Rebar and mesh reinforcement is starting to be placed on the middle portion of module 3 on the First Floor.
• Work continues on the main concrete retaining wall. Areas of the retaining wall at the form liner locations below the bridge need to be repaired. A small area where the form liner collapsed needs to be ground out to match the adjacent detail. Honeycombing is present in another location. (Still needs to be addressed from last report)
• The concrete curb and gutter has been damaged in a number of locations. These sections of curb will require replacement. (maintained from previous report)
• Precast concrete wall panels have begun to be set. Panels are in place from the toilet rooms east to the east wall of the small gym. Module 2 footings for the back wall of the auditorium, front of stage and wing walls are being poured.
• Masonry CMU walls on the south elevation of Module 3.1 for the first three classrooms is up to bearing at the roof line.
• Module 1 and 2 masonry walls are ongoing. The ground face block on the east corridor wall are continuing.
• Module 2 masonry walls in the core of the building are continuing. Walls for the Mod 2
• Mechanical Room are nearing completion to accept precast floor plank.

September 3, 2008

• Segmental retaining walls and drain tile are complete with the exception of the cap stone on the east property line.
• Segmental retaining wall and drain tile is nearing completion on the north property line.
• Segmental retaining wall and drain tile is nearing completion the west property line.
• Grading and stone work is complete in the north parking lot
• Spreading of topsoil is nearing completion in the detention basin with the exception of the west side.
• Concrete retaining wall has been poured
• Rebar and mesh reinforcement was placed on the first floor and upper floor of the classroom wing in Module 3.1 as of 9/3/08.
• Concrete topping was placed on the first floor and upper floor of the Module 3.1 classroom wing as of 9/8/2008.
• Masonry CMU walls on the south elevation of Module 3.1 have been installed up to the first floor (middle level of the classroom wing)
• Module 1 and 2 masonry walls are ongoing. The ground face block on the east corridor wall has started.
• Masonry walls in Module 2 are continuing. The fire wall between the band rooms and the
• Auditorium stage in up approximately half way along the mechanical room and east wall of the loading dock. The wall separating the stage and music rooms is up about 2/3.
• Steel and deck detailing/ installation for the east portion the Mod 3.2 Classrooms is ongoing.

August 27, 2008

• Segmental retaining walls and drain tiles are complete with the exception of the cap stone on the east property
• Segmental retaining wall is continuing on the north and west property lines
• Grading is continuing in the north parking lot
• Spreading of topsoil is ongoing in the detention basin
• Concrete foundation walls have been poured along the south wall of the commons to the LRC stairs
• Concrete slab on grad has been poured on the lower level of module 3
• Masonry CMU walls for the first floor level up to window height have been installed at module 3
• Module 1 & 2 masonry walls are ongoing. The ground face block on the east corridor wall has started.
• Steel detailing for the west portion and center portion of module 3 classrooms is continuing
• Steel is ongoing on the east portion
• Floor framing, metal deck and joists continue being set on the balance of the west portion of module 3
• Underground storm piping is in place in the majority of modules 1 & 2
• The acid basin has been set in the science area
• Plumbing vent/drains have begun on the lower level of module 3
• Underground conduit banks are being installed in module 1 and the electrical room

• Backfill is complete at the receiving/loading dock except at the electrical tie-ins
• Vapor barrier and perimeter isolation material has been placed in Module 3 (west portion of the classroom bar)
• Masonry wall for the first floor level up to window height have been installed at module 33
• Masonry wall in module 2 are starting at the band area
• Steel detailing for the west portion and center portion of the Module 3 classrooms is continuing
• Steel is ongoing on the east portion
• Floor framing, metal deck and joists continue being set on the balance of the west portion of Module 3

• Interior footings are being formed in the main office and drama/stage area

• Concrete curb has been installed around the majority of the school portion of the site except on the south
• Steel for the west portion of module 3 classrooms is being erected. Steel work is commencing on the east portion
• Floor framing, metal deck, and joist are being set on the balance of the west portion of module 3
• Underground storm piping is in progress in module 1, 2, & 3

July 23, 2008

• Segmental retaining walls and drain tile continue to be installed on the east property line
• Footings and foundations for the west exterior wall and loading dock are being excavated
• Foundation walls are being formed for the north half of the exterior wall of the main office
• Foundation walls have been placed and stripped for the fitness center. Perimeter insulation has been placed in this areas
• Setup for curb installation on the north and west side of the building perimeter drive are in progress
• Curbs have been poured on the west portion of the Herrick Road entry drive up to the curve
• Steel for the west portion of the Mod 3 classrooms is being erected
• Floor framing, metal deck and joists are being set on western 2 bys of the west half of module 3
• Underground storm piping is in progress in Mod 2

July 17, 2008

• Segmental retaining walls drain tile are being installed on the east property line.
• Grading work on the building pad is complete.
• Stone base fro the main parking lot is in place.
• Footings and foundations for the classroom module are complete
• Footing are complete for the gymnasium interior walls and perimeter precast panels
• Excavation for the module 2 column footings is in progress
• Steel for the west portion of the module 3 classrooms is being erected

July 10, 2008

• Water main testing is in process. .
• Grading work on the building pad is nearing completed. Work is continuing in Mod 2 (main entry/ cafeteria.
• Stone base for the main parking lot is being installed.
• Foundation walls are being formed for the north wall of the east half of Module 3.
• Waterproofing has been applied to the exterior face of the elevator pit.
• The footings and foundations for the classroom module are approximately 98% complete.
• Footings are being framed for Module 1 exterior from the multi-needs classroom to the north entry by the gym and a portion of the small gym.
• Excavation for the north wall of the gymnasiums is in progress.
• Footings for the west half of the main east/ west concrete retaining wall are being formed and reinforcing is being installed.
• Footings for the north/ south concrete retaining wall are being formed and reinforcing is beinginstalled.

July 3, 2008

Site work

• Water main installation is proceeding along the north property line adjacent to the Berning site
• Grading work is continuing on the building pad. The pad is almost to sub-grade

• Foundation walls are being formed and reinforcing is being placed for the south wall of the east half of module 3. Concrete to be poured later.
• Framing for the elevator pit foundation and interior piers in the east half of module 3 is in place. Concrete is poured.
• The footings and foundations for the classroom module are approximately 90% complete.

June 26, 2008

• Water main installation is proceeding along the north property line adjacent to the Berning site
• Grading work is continuing on the building pad. The pad is almost to sub-grade

• Foundation walls are being formed and reinforcing is being placed for the south wall of the east half of module 3. Concrete to be poured later.
• Framing for the elevator pit foundation and interior piers in the east half of module 3 is in place. Concrete to be poured soon.
• The footings and foundations for the classroom module are approximately 85% complete.

June 19, 2008 Field Report

• The haul road has been completed along the south property line to the west end of Module 3
• Excavation for the main concrete retaining is ongoing
• The water main is installed along the east property line. Some hydrants have been installed
• Grading work is continuing on the building pad and main parking lot. The pad is almost to subgrade
• Perimeter isolation has been placed on the exterior foundation walls of the west half of Module 3 and the majority of this area has been backfilled
• Footings are being formed and reinforcing is being placed for the south wall of the east half of Module 3.
• Framing for the north wall of the east half of Module 3 is being framed as well as the interior piers of the west half of Module 3.

Construction Update for June 11, 2008

• Regular rains over the past week have been affecting construction operations and the overall site is deeply rutted. However, the clay building pad appears to be in a satisfactory condition due to high winds that have dried out the exposed surfaces. Excavations of the foundations are dryer than expected.
• The haul road has been completed along the east property line to the module 2 building pad.
• Excavation for the main concrete retaining wall has begun.
• The water main is installed along the east property line. Some hydrants have been installed.
• The south and east roads have been rough graded to sub-grade.
• Grading work is continuing on the building pad and main parking lot. The dry weather and wind over the past few days has helped in drying out the clay pad.

Construction Update for June 4, 2008

• Mass grading is ongoing at all areas of the site. Crews are continuing to focus on installation of the construction haul road. Stone has been placed around curve and up to main parking lot.
• Excavation for the storm water detention basin continues
• Installation of the sewer main at Galusha Road in ongoing. Water and storm sewer structures and piping have been installed at the main entry drive
• Clay is almost finished being placed in lifts at the Module A and B building pads and pad work has started at the main parking lot
• Staking for Module 3 foundation and retaining has started.
• The site is extremely muddy due to the past weeks weather.

Construction Update for May 22, 2008

• Mass grading is ongoing at all areas of the site. Crews are focusing on installation of the construction haul road. Stone has been placed for approximately 200 feet at the Herrick Road entrance.
• Excavation for the storm water detention basin is ongoing.
• Installation of the sewer main at Galusha Road is ongoing. Storm water structures and piping have been installed at the main entry drive. Excavation toward the north was ongoing.
• Clay continues to be placed in lifts at the Module A and B building pads. A TSC inspector was on site to check the compaction.
• Excavation for the building pad of the Module classroom bar is close to completion. Stakes indicating the building location have been placed.

"Students Name the New Street"

The City of Warrenville accepted the recommendation from the students of Hubble Middle School to name the entry road to the New Hubble, "Husky Highway". The name was voted on by the student body and chosen from a list of 20 submitted suggestions.
