Foundation Fun Run And Festival To Benefit District 200 Students
Mark your calendars for the morning of September 16, 2006 to come to the inaugural N.E.W. 200 Foundation Fun Run and Festival. This event, a combination 5K and 1 mile family Fun Run will be followed by a community festival at the new Wheaton North High School Field House. Managed by the Wheaton Sport Center in partnership with the Foundation in cooperation with District 200 and the Wheaton Park District, all proceeds will benefit innovative educational programs for the schools of District 200.
All ages can participate! Students and parents can sign up for the 5K (3.1 miles) course which will take runners through the beautiful neighborhoods of north Wheaton, Northside Park and finish on the fifty yard line at Rexilius Field on the Wheaton North Campus. Preschool –5th grade students are invited to participate in a 1 mile run on the Wheaton North campus. Medals will be awarded for all ages and all participants will receive a T-shirt. The school with the highest percentage of student participation will receive a $1000 cash award from the foundation.
Following the race, the Foundation will host a Festival to celebrate participants and sponsors inside the newly opened Wheaton North Field House. The Festival will feature a wide spectrum of activities, including Laser Tag, the Ultimate Obstacle Course, Football Bungee Run, Radar Speed Pitch, Climb ‘N Slide, Long Jump, Fun House, and Tug-o-War. There will also be fitness activities, face painting, and a silent auction. Barry Keefe of Mix 101.9 FM will Emcee the event, the Rabble Rousers will provide music, and Marcus Liberty (of Illinois and Denver Nuggets fame) will take on all comers in a 3-point shootout.

Our hope is that this event will provide a great social atmosphere to have fun and renew friendships – all in support of a great cause.”
