It is a privilege to be the principal at Jefferson Early Childhood Center for the past 23 years. After graduating from Illinois State University in 1986 with a bachelor’s degree in Special Education, I began my teaching career at Wiesbrook Elementary school instructing students with special education needs. I also taught students at the middle and high school levels for three years and served as a Lead Teacher. In this role, I provided technical assistance and support to staff and students in the School Association for Special Education (SASED) cooperative and in District 200.
On a personal note, I was born in California and moved to Holland during elementary school where I learned to speak Dutch by attending the neighborhood school. Upon returning to the States, my family settled in Illinois where I have lived ever since.
I am a proud parent of one daughter, Elise, who shares the same passion for teaching. She is in her third year of teaching at Jefferson Junior High in Naperville.
It is truly an honor to work with dedicated staff who have a high level of expertise and make a difference in the lives of the children, families and the community on a daily basis. I am also thankful for so many supportive families who take an active role in their child’s lives and inspire me each and every day!
