Board receives governance award
The Board of Education was awarded the 2016 School Board Governance Recognition by the Illinois Association of School Boards at a reception earlier this week. The Board is one of only 18 school boards in the State of Illinois to receive the award and there are 800+ school boards in Illinois. This is the third governance award our Board has received.
The recognition is designed to acknowledge those school boards that have engaged in activities and modeled behaviors that lead to excellence in local school governance in support of quality public education including implementation of a superintendent evaluation process; regular and systematic review of policies; and comprehensive measures to engage in two-way communications with district residents, parents and staff on issues of importance to the District.
Jim Vroman, Board President, is proud of this accomplishment. “The members of our school board wholeheartedly support our mission. Receiving this award for the third time gives us, and our community, assurance that we have adopted and are following the recognized best practices of self-governance," says Vroman.
Fall Mobile Pantries
Each month District 200 and the Northern Illinois Food Bank will host at least one mobile pantry at various places in the community that are open to all District 200 families. A complete list of mobile pantries can be found on our website.
