What a difference a few years makes...
This August, Anthony LaFido will begin kindergarten in a classroom with his peers at Wiesbrook. His mom, Amy, says that because of Jefferson Early Childhood Center, Anthony is a whole new person than he was two years ago. You can watch a video about the LaFido Family here.
Anthony started attending Jefferson at the age of three with a significant speech delay. After being at Jefferson for just two months, Anthony went from speaking two-word phrases to communicating in full sentences, completely transforming his self-confidence and behavior.
The following year, Anthony's brother, Vince, joined him at Jefferson and made significant gains in his speech and fine motor skills. And now this fall the youngest LaFido, GIanna, cannot wait to actually begin at Jefferson after spending countless hours at school with her brothers. Amy, a former District 200 teacher herself, believes that the teachers at Jefferson are very 'in-tune' with the needs of all students. "The staff at Jefferson really want what is best for all kids, and it makes such a difference in a student's life," says Amy.
While the LaFido Family has enjoyed some adventures this summer including beach time, strawberry picking, biking and a trip to Texas, they are ready to head back to school in just a few short weeks.
